Did you know that according to a research study done by the Mayo Clinic; half of all women will develop or have had a urinary tract infection (UTI) during their lifetimes. There are also a number of women who will have this more than once in their lifetime. With that in mind did you know that there is an over-the-counter (OTC) medication designed to help ease the pain and the discomfort a woman feels when she is suffering from a UTI. It is the only OTC medication with an antibacterial agent for UTI’s. This not only assists with treating the infection but also helps to contain it as well.

How does it work you ask? You simply take two tablets, which by the way are easy to swallow, with a full glass of water three times a day. It is for adults and children who are 12 years and older. It is recommended drinking plenty of water while on this medication but that is okay water is good for you. It helps numb the pain and burning sensations and it is a great course of action to use until you can get into to see your doctor.

How to Keep Your Poinsettias For The Whole Season

AFM Poinsettia

AFM Poinsettia

The holidays are my favorite time of year and it is not because of the presents but because my favorite flower aka plant can be found everywhere. To me, Poinsettias are the most beautiful thing that God created. I can’t wait until I can decorate my house with them. They are no longer the traditional red ones they come in a variety of colors.

The poinsettia was first introduced to our country by a senator by the name of Robert Poinsett who brought them back from a trip to Mexico. Yep folks the flowers that we have come to see as a Christmas symbol was not original to this country, they are from Mexico. Maybe that is why I love them so much. Here are a few tips that will allow you to enjoy your poinsettia throughout the holiday season.

  • If your poinsettia is large and the pot is plastic transplant the plant into a heavy container for better stability. Inexpensive clay pots that you can find at any home improvement store or Michael’s would be best.
  • Most poinsettias come with pretty foil around them. It looks so pretty that you don’t want to take it off but in fact that prettiness is actually killing the plant. You need to remove it because it is a water trap which affects the root ball and shortens the life of the plant.

Poinsettias are not meant to be plants that last forever but at least by using these tips you can make them last longer which will allow the holiday spirit to linger as well.

azaleapicAbout the Olivia:

When Olivia Hardin began having movie-like dreams in her teens, she had no choice but to begin putting them to paper. Before long, the writing bug had her and she knew she wanted to be a published author. Several rejections plus a little bit of life later, and she was temporarily “cured” of the urge to write. That is until she met a group of talented and fabulous writers who gave her the direction and encouragement she needed to get lost in the words again.

Olivia’s attended three different universities over the years and toyed with majors in Computer Technology, English, History and Geology. Then one day she heard the term road scholar and she knew that was what she wanted to be. Now she “studies” anything and everything just for the joy of learning. She’s also an insatiable crafter who only completes about 1 out of 5 projects, a jogger who hates to run, and she’s sometimes accused of being artistic.

A native Texas girl, Olivia lives in the beautiful Lone Star state with her husband, Danny and their puppy, Bonnie.
