Acid Park Legend or Truth

Recently my oldest daughter has been talking about visiting a place called Acid Park in Wilson, North Carolina. She wanted to go with her friends to see it. The legend behind it states that one night the daughter of the man who owned the land got high off LSD with her boyfriend. They were going at a high rate of speed and crashed into a tree. The daughter died. The boyfriend survived and told the dad what he saw when he hit the tree. The dad then proceeded to make whirligigs to warn others about the dangerous curve. Supposedly the legend goes that if you passed the point of where the car crashed strange things will occur. Like for instance the man is supposed to be dead and will chase you with a chainsaw.

That got us all intrigued so when we drove to Wilson to pick up some items from five and below today, we decided to take a side trip to try and find it. At first, we turned the wrong way and had to turn around and backtrack and then we thought we had passed it. But as we going around a curve there it was in its entire splendor. I, of course, did not have my camera with me so my beautiful daughter managed to capture a few shots for me from her cell phone.

Here is the first thing you see from the road.

Beautiful right. It is a windmill sculpture. We even ventured down the dirt road but only we went a little way just in case the legend was true. But we did manage to get a picture of the car wrapped around the tree.

You can barely see it against the tree. We would have gone farther but Gracie was getting a little freaked out about it. LOL, can you spell chicken? Here is another shot we managed to take before leaving.

Look at what a gorgeous work of art that this is. All these works of art are covered with reflectors so that they can be seen at night. I plan on making a trip back there for some night time pictures as well. But I will not be going past that car. LOL yep, I am little chicken as well. But I think we will let Gracie stay home.

But until then do you believe the legend behind the park?? Some people say that the man who created the sculptures is alive as well as his daughter.

The story behind this park is so cool. So what do you think??
